Remember Thomas Senavitis? We've covered his DUI story on this blog.
Thomas Senavitis was the small-town man; the self-proclaimed "nobody" who was being held responsible for the DUI death of a beloved Pennsylvania politician.
The odds were against this unknown man from Kunkletown, Pa. He was being tried for the DUI homicide of Senator James Rhoades, a Pennsylvania State Senator.
But lo and behold, Thomas Senavitis had a magician of a Pa DUI lawyer. His court appointed Pennsylvania DUI attorney worked wonders-- and Thomas Senavitis was acquitted of DUI homicide.
And now, Thomas Senavitis is a free man.
He was found guilty by a jury of DUI and reckless endangerment, which would give him a far shorter sentence than if he had been convicted of homicide. And as his trial proceeded, Senavitis remained in prison. The time he remained in prison pending his trial has now been credited to his sentence for DUI and for reckless endangerment.
As a result, Thomas Senavitis is now out on parole, since he was essentially sentenced to "time served."
He still has approximately one year left to serve on parole before his sentence is complete, said his Pa DUI lawyer.
Nevertheless, Thomas Senavitis left the courtroom smiling and talking to reporters, sporting a suit and tie with a Mobil cap on his head.
Indeed, the work of his Pa DUI lawyer was nothing short of brilliant. As a result, his Pennsylvania DUI lawyer has been honored by the Pennsylvania Criminal Defense Lawyers and the state Public Defenders Association.
The Thomas Senavitis case just goes to show you that a DUI homicide need not be a DUI homicide if you have a great Pa DUI lawyer by your side.
