Vince Neil Of Motley Crue Charged With Another DUI

If you're aging rocker Vince Neil, then what happens in Las Vegas certainly won't stay there. The 49-year-old lead singer of rock-and-roll band Motley Crue, was charged with a DUI after an arrest in Las Vegas, CBS News reported.

He was released from the Clark County Jail on $2,000 bail; his next court date is scheduled for Sept. 27, according to documents obtained by CBS.

The singer, a veteran of drunk driving charges, was arrested in Las Vegas in 2007 on suspicion of a DUI after he was stopped for driving his Ferrari recklessly, according to TMZ. The DUI charge eventually was dropped after he pleaded guilty to the reckless driving charge.

Nevada law also comes down hard on DUI convicts, although Pennsylvania DUI attorneys would tell you that the Keystone State isn't exactly soft on drunk drivers either. Nevada punishes repeat DUI offenders, if the offenses are within seven years, with mandatory jail time of 10 days to six months; so Vince Neil should thank his lawyer for helping to arrange the 2007 plea deal.

But the rock star's drunk-driving record stretches back more than 20 years and includes one fatality. Vince Neil was convicted on a felony DUI and served just 20 days in prison after a drunken car crash in California took the life of his passenger, the Daily Mail reminds us.

In an embarrassing case of bad timing, he described his "past" struggles with alcohol abuse with Associated Press reporters ahead of the release of his tell-all memoir, CBS News reported. Vince Neil said he admired performers who have given up their chemical vices and that he no longer hits the sauce, apart from some moderate imbibing:

"There's just a point in your life where you kind of stop, that's what happened with me. There's other things in life than just drugs and alcohol."

Although DUI suspects are innocent until proven guilty, this latest arrest doesn't really help his "I've changed" narrative.
